Lisa Hannigan

Everybody loves Lisa Hannigan!
The first album by the Irish artist was released in 2008. Although it took only 14 days to record the songs in a friend’s studio, the self-released album won double platinum in Ireland and was nominated for the Choice Music Award and the Mercury Music Prize in the UK, followed by performances at some of the most famous TV shows, such as “Later … With Jools Holland”, “Tonight Show With Jay Leno” and “The Colbert Report”. Each time Lisa Hannigan managed to captivate her audience. But she really became popular as the voice at the side of Damien Rice, who she supported on stage for seven years. She went into the studio to record with the producer Joe Henry (Elvis Costello, Solomon Burke, Loudon Wainwright III). This is how “Passenger” became a highly atmospheric, well-rounded and poetic second album which immediately placed first (!!) in her home country’s charts and in the top 20 in the UK. The singles “Knots” and “What’ll I Do” are only two of many exciting moments on the album. With “Passenger” Lisa Hannigan rises to the first league of female singers/songwriters and completely swept the board at the influential Eurosonic Festival. For once, the professional audience agreed: based on her incredible charisma and pop appeal, she will be one of THE newcomers in 2012!
